Carneiro calls for mobilization to “convince undecided voters” to vote PS

“We count on everyone to make this election what we achieved in 2022. As you know, in 2022, it was discovered through studies that 20% of people decided their vote in the last 15 days and 10% in the final week,” stated José Luís Carneiro during his speech at the PS campaign lunch rally in Vila Nova de Famalicão.

The former rival of Pedro Nuno Santos in the internal contest for the leadership of the PS asserted that “these days are decisive in convincing the undecided to cast their votes where it can be most effective.”

“And where the vote can be most effective is a vote for the Socialist Party,” he declared.

Carneiro claimed that those who live by and defend the values of April “are all out supporting the PS.”

“Because everyone knows the achievements we’ve made in housing policies, health policies, transport and mobility policies, in the defense of the National Health Service; everyone knows the marks of the PS in this district,” he praised.

The PS’s leading candidate for Braga referred to the previous day’s statements by the PS leader, who said the party “is a safe harbor.”

“And never as much as today has it been so important to have a party that is the mainstay of the values of April,” he emphasized, noting these are “values that have a long history” and “the Portuguese know well which party is the backbone of April’s achievements.”

For Carneiro, the policies in these various areas “need to be perfected, need to be improved.”

“And who better to perfect the public policies that have been developing since 1976 than the party that has always been the great foundation of April’s achievements and the great foundation of Portuguese democracy,” he questioned.

The former minister further noted that “in such complex times” as those experienced in the world and in Europe, “Portugal demands a party that knows how to have a sense of State.”

“The more the battle heats up, the stronger the PS becomes,” Carneiro shouted during his speech at the lunch in Famalicão, which gathered locals and featured a menu of caldo verde and bifanas, accompanied by music from Augusto Canário.
