Carried “two bladed weapons” in their luggage. Was arrested at the airport.

A 59-year-old woman was arrested by the Public Security Police (PSP) last Wednesday, October 29, at Humberto Delgado Airport in Lisbon, on suspicion of carrying prohibited weapons.

The PSP stated in a release that the suspect was approached after airport security personnel detected “two prohibited objects” during the X-ray screening of luggage in Terminal 2.

“Upon police approach, it was possible to seize two cardsharp-type weapons” (a kind of knife), the statement noted.

When questioned about the “mentioned weapons,” the woman claimed they were hers, but she was unaware that she was not allowed to carry them.

The suspect was arrested, formally charged, and provided her Identity and Residence Statement.

“In a meeting held between Public Prosecutors and the PSP regarding several criminal incidents at Humberto Delgado Airport, the defendant was presented with the option of temporary suspension of the process, subject to payment of one and a half units of account – 153 euros. She accepted, choosing the institution Acreditar as the recipient of this amount and proceeded with the payment,” the release stated.
