The public road transport company Carris has announced that bus route 19B will follow this path: Campo Mártires da Pátria, Praça da Alegria, Av. da Liberdade (central axis), Restauradores, Av. da Liberdade (with a stop moved from Largo da Anunciada), Rua das Pretas, Rua do Telhal, Calçada Moinho de Vento, Campo Mártires da Pátria, Travessa do Torel, Travessa do Forno do Torel, Rua do Câmara Pestana (with a stop at the top of Lavra), Rua do Instituto Bacteriológico and back to Mártires da Pátria, where it will resume its route.
The adjustment will create two new stops: on the central axis of Av. da Liberdade, to relocate the stop from Largo da Anunciada, and on Rua Câmara Pestana, near the Lavra lift exit.
According to Carris, this bus route will operate between 7:30 AM and 9:00 PM on weekdays, and from 10:00 AM to 8:30 PM on weekends and public holidays.
In addition to this adjustment, the company had previously announced alternatives to the Glória and Bica lifts, with a new circular bus route 51E Glória – Carmo Square operating daily between 7:00 AM and 9:30 PM starting today.
While the Bica lift is closed, Carris recommends using bus route 22B from Cais Sodré to Príncipe Real, connecting Rua de São Paulo to Largo do Calhariz, operating daily from 7:00 AM to 8:30 PM, as noted in the statement.
The Glória lift, managed by Carris, was involved in a derailment on September 3, resulting in 16 fatalities and injuring about 20 others, including various nationalities.
In the wake of the accident, the city council ordered the suspension of the lifts and elevators for technical safety inspections.
