Carris made a direct adjustment for 5 months with a maintenance company

“It is the necessary time to launch a new public tender,” explained the president of Carris during a press conference, noting that the previous tender “was deserted.”

Pedro de Brito Bogas announced that a new public tender will be launched later this month.

The Glória funicular in Lisbon derailed this Wednesday at 6:04 PM on Calçada da Glória, resulting in at least 16 deaths and approximately 20 injuries.

According to information from the Civil Protection, out of the 38 people affected by the accident, 15 died on Wednesday, and 23 were transported or traveled by their own means to hospitals, one of whom died during the night.

The Lisbon Civil Protection today corrected the death toll from the Glória funicular derailment, confirming it to be 16 rather than the 17 initially reported this morning.

The government has declared a national day of mourning this Thursday, and the Lisbon City Council has decided to observe three days of municipal mourning.

The Glória funicular is operated by Carris, connecting the Restauradores to the Jardim de São Pedro de Alcântara in Bairro Alto, along a route of approximately 265 meters, and is highly sought after by tourists.
