Case by case, the Tax Authority clarifies who is exempt from filing the IRS

The annual IRS submission campaign has commenced, but certain taxpayers are exempt from fulfilling this obligation – are you among them?

In a Facebook post, the Tax Authority explains that you are exempt from submitting the 2024 IRS declaration if you received, either solely or in combination:

  • Up to 8,500 euros from employment income or pensions, without any source withholding, and up to 4,104 euros in alimony;
  • Income on which you have paid withholding taxes and do not wish to add them to other income for the application of general IRS rates.

Alternatively, if you only received:

  • An annual amount less than 2,037.04 euros from subsidies or grants under the Common Agricultural Policy, income on which you paid withholding taxes, or employment income or pensions up to 4,104 euros; or
  • An annual amount less than 2,037.04 euros from isolated acts, provided you have not received other income or only received income on which you paid withholding taxes.
