An 88-year-old man was found approximately three kilometers from his home with “injuries and various bruises” on April 1, after being reported missing on March 31 in the Castro Daire municipality.
The alert was raised by a local resident, prompting the mobilization of the National Republican Guard (GNR) officers, who were supported by the Castro Daire Fire Department to conduct “searches near his residence.”
“During the proceedings, the elderly man was located about three kilometers from his home, presenting injuries and various bruises,” stated the GNR in a communication sent to newsrooms on Thursday.
The man was taken to a hospital for medical treatment and evaluation as he “appeared disoriented and weak.”
This operation, conducted by the Territorial Command of Viseu through the Castro Daire Territorial Post, also received reinforcement from canine units from the Viseu Intervention Detachment (DI) and officers from the Emergency Protection and Relief Unit (UEPS).
