“I think the campaign will have the terms that we decide to set […], for my part, I have a very firm decision: I want to talk about the country,” stated Catarina Martins, addressing journalists in Brussels, the capital of Belgium.
Arriving at a meeting with former socialist Education Minister João Costa and former Finnish Education Minister Li Anderson, the former coordinator of the Left Bloc (supported by the party she led) expressed that “everyone is tired of politicians who talk about themselves” and urged for an electoral debate aimed at “unlocking solutions” for Portuguese problems in health, housing, and wages.
“I note that there are even interviews about political disagreements between two people, I think that is absolutely irrelevant,” she commented.
Catarina Martins refrained from commenting on individual statements from other presidential candidates, emphasizing that it is more important “to be someone who stands with the working people.”
