A 32-year-old man has been arrested in the Avenidas Novas district of Lisbon on suspicion of committing aggravated theft.
The incident occurred last Tuesday, the 22nd, when the suspect reportedly broke the lock and gained access to a vehicle, stealing items valued at 150 euros.
In a statement, the Lisbon Metropolitan Command reported that following the alert, the Public Security Police (PSP) took action and intercepted the suspect as he was leaving the vehicle, in possession of the stolen items.
“The vehicle’s owner identified the items in the suspect’s possession and filed a formal complaint,” the statement notes.
The stolen articles were confiscated and returned to their rightful owner.
The detainee was brought before a judicial authority for an initial hearing and was subjected to a preventive measure requiring him to report to the authorities twice a week.
