A 35-year-old woman was apprehended by the Public Security Police (PSP) while attempting to stab another woman last Saturday in Alfragide, as stated by the police in a press release.
The woman was arrested on suspicion of possessing a prohibited weapon and causing bodily harm.
The Lisbon Metropolitan Command of the PSP explained that officers on patrol caught the suspect “approaching the victim with a bladed weapon (knife), intending to stab her in the neck area” while circulating in a street of the parish.
Thanks to the swift intervention of the officers, the woman was restrained and did not manage to harm the victim, who later explained that “there had been a trivial argument with the suspect, leading her to attempt an assault.”
The knife used in the attempted assault was seized, and since the victim was not injured, she “declined any and all treatment and/or hospital transport.”
The detainee was brought before the Amadora Court for an initial judicial hearing and was placed under identity and residence terms.
