A 51-year-old man was apprehended by the National Republican Guard (GNR) after being caught in the act of stealing bicycles in the Tavira municipality.
A statement from the Faro Territorial Command revealed that numerous reports had been filed in the Santa Luzia area.
Following an investigation, the Guard’s officers managed to catch the suspect red-handed.
“During the operation, a house search was conducted, leading to the seizure of stolen items estimated to be worth 80,000 euros,” the statement added.
In total, eight electric bicycles, three bicycles, various cycling equipment, a defense spray, a dagger, two walkie-talkie radios, seven televisions, and six vehicles were seized.
The detainee has been formally charged, and the case has been referred to the Faro Judicial Court.
