The extraordinary meeting will take place on Tuesday night at the party’s headquarters in Lisbon.
The agenda includes the analysis of the election results from the local elections and the presidential elections scheduled for January of next year, as announced by the party’s advisory office.
Counselors will also examine the current political situation.
This gathering of the party’s highest organ between congresses coincides with the day of the general vote on the State Budget for the upcoming year.
The CDS-PP has not yet taken a position on the upcoming presidential elections. About a month ago, the CDS-PP president, Nuno Melo, stated that he would only discuss the presidential elections after the local elections on October 12 and acknowledged that if former party leader Paulo Portas runs, he would have the backing of the party and himself.
In the latest local elections, where the CDS-PP ran both independently and in coalitions, most often with the PSD, the party remained the fourth with the most mayors.
The party managed to retain leadership in the six municipalities it already governed and secured another mayoralty in coalition with the PSD.
