The leader of the Christian Democratic group, Ana Cristina Monteiro, stated, “We received positive feedback, we coincide on some aspects, and the Regional Government is confident it will make the necessary effort to address the main concerns that the CDS presented here.”

Monteiro spoke to the journalists following a meeting with the regional finance secretary, Duarte Freitas, in Funchal as part of the preparations for the 2026 budget proposal for the Autonomous Region of Madeira.

Today, the island representative is holding preliminary meetings with representatives from the six parties with seats in the regional parliament: IL, CDS-PP, Chega, PS, JPP, and PSD.

The CDS-PP, which supports the Regional Government of Madeira in coalition with the PSD, presented several critical proposals to the secretary. These include increasing the regional minimum wage to 1,000 euros, from the current 915 euros, continuing the tax reduction process through the 30% differential, enhancing the teaching career, and continuing the program to reduce waiting lists for surgeries.

The CDS-PP has one representative in the Legislative Assembly of Madeira, which comprises a total of 47 members. The leader of the party’s regional structure, José Manuel Rodrigues, serves as the regional secretary of the Economy.
