Telmo Correia continues as Secretary of State for Internal Administration and Álvaro Castello-Branco as Deputy Secretary of State for National Defense, holding the same positions as in the previous government.
Both are currently vice-presidents of the CDS-PP party.
The executive also includes the CDS-PP leader, Nuno Melo, who remains the Minister of National Defense.
Álvaro Castello-Branco resumes working directly with Nuno Melo, while Telmo Correia joins Maria Lúcia Amaral’s team, the new Minister of Internal Administration, succeeding Margarida Blasco. Maria Lúcia Amaral is the former Ombudswoman.
Telmo Correia, a lawyer, was Minister of Tourism in the XVI Constitutional Government, a member of the Assembly of the Republic, and a university lecturer.
Álvaro Castello-Branco was also the vice-president of Porto City Hall and an administrator of Águas de Portugal. He is also a lawyer and served as a parliamentarian in various legislatures.
President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa today accepted the list of 43 Secretaries of State proposed by Prime Minister Luís Montenegro for the XXV Constitutional Government.
A statement published on the Presidency of the Republic’s website noted that Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa received and accepted the Prime Minister’s proposal for the Secretaries of State.
Today, the President of the Republic swore in the Prime Minister and the 16 ministers of the XXV Constitutional Government, the second PSD/CDS-PP executive led by Luís Montenegro.
The inauguration of the Secretaries of State is scheduled for Friday at 12:00 at the Palácio Nacional da Ajuda in Lisbon.
