“It is essential that these spaces are provided for conflict resolution,” and it is “crucial that efforts continue to be made to resolve the situation to end the crisis, the deaths, and the entire war scenario in that area,” stated Mariana Leitão during a campaign event in Viana do Castelo for the local elections.
During the election campaign, Mariana Leitão criticized the humanitarian flotilla heading to Gaza, which included the BE coordinator, advocating for the necessity of diplomatic negotiations rather than actions she described as “propaganda.”
Today, shortly after the possibility of an agreement was announced, Mariana Leitão remarked that “the flotilla neither resolved nor contributed in any way to the solution, as these [diplomatic] steps have been underway for some time now.”
“I have mentioned several times the importance of focusing precisely on the ongoing peace agreement negotiations, and therefore I am very pleased that this is now realized and that the international community continues to invest every effort to ensure lasting peace that effectively ends the conflict,” added Mariana Leitão.
