
Regarding municipal licensing for the construction and rehabilitation of residential buildings, a year-on-year increase of 10% has been observed, according to data released in the January Housing Statistical Summary by AICCOPN.
The number of housing units licensed for new constructions rose by 40.5%, resulting in 3,618 new dwellings.
The association further noted that the amount of new housing credit, excluding renegotiations, extended by financial institutions, increased by 27% to 1.534 billion euros. The interest rate for housing credit was set at 3.98%, reflecting a reduction of 68 basis points compared to January 2024.
The median value of housing, for bank evaluation purposes, saw a year-on-year increase of 14.5%.
In the 12 months ending in January, the region of Oeste and Vale do Tejo was prominent, with the licensing of 2,699 units for new constructions. This marks a 22.4% increase compared to the 2,205 accommodations licensed in the previous 12 months.
Concerning the banking valuation of housing in the region, there was a 12.3% year-on-year variation in January.
