According to a statement from the IPMA, the Central group islands of the Azores (Pico, Faial, São Jorge, Terceira, and Graciosa) will be under a yellow warning from local time midnight (one hour more in Lisbon) until 9 a.m. on Thursday, due to “rain sometimes heavy, possibly accompanied by thunderstorms.”
In the Eastern group islands (São Miguel and Santa Maria), the same warning will be in effect from midnight to noon local time on Thursday.
The yellow warning, the least severe on a scale of three, is issued by the IPMA whenever there is a risk situation for certain activities dependent on the weather conditions.
