“We would like to have a direct air connection from Mozambique to Malawi. We can connect directly from [the province of] Tete to Malawi (…) between our airlines,” declared the Mozambican head of state, on the sidelines of a meeting with his Malawian counterpart, Lazarus Chakwera, during the first day of the visit to that country.
Daniel Chapo stated that this measure will allow businesses in the private sector to “become more flexible” and “better develop” both countries.
“That’s why we are here, very satisfied, to be able to further strengthen our relations in economic areas, but also in defense, security, and migration,” he said.
According to the President, the visit to Malawi will mainly serve as an opportunity to “strengthen the relations of friendship, brotherhood, solidarity, and cooperation between the two peoples and countries.”
“[We will] continue to cooperate with the brother country Malawi for the economic development of both countries and the social well-being of both peoples,” he added.
Chapo also expressed interest in expanding cooperation with Malawi in the sectors of energy, transportation, trade, agriculture, as well as tourism and mineral resources.
