“This is an issue that the Government can resolve with Chega. We are willing to sit down, if necessary tomorrow, and fix this,” stated André Ventura, at a press conference at Chega’s national headquarters in Lisbon.
For the president of Chega, “the issue of shift work is very important,” among others, but the Government “still has time to make changes that are sensitive and reasonable” to the draft presented in July and “cannot complain about the lack of support.”
At this press conference, André Ventura criticized the general strike called for December 11 by trade unions against the Government’s labor package, which he described as “a mistake in which only the far-left and parties linked to it can see any benefit.”
“We do not need general strikes in Portugal or nation-wide shutdowns. We need work, and respect for work,” he argued.
