Chega criticizes PS and PSD for “mummified promises” yet to be fulfilled.

João Tilly inaugurated today’s campaign dinner in Viseu, accompanied by the party’s president, André Ventura.

In his speech, the candidate declared, “In Viseu, electoral promises have been abundant and varied but remain the same, lacking even the creativity to amend some of the old, reheated, and almost prehistoric promises.”

He accused past governments, including the PSD, CDS, PS, and now AD, of fulfilling none, or almost none, of these promises, maintaining, “The policy implemented in this district for the past 30 years remains unchanged irrespective of the government in power, summarized in three words: closing, forgetting, and ostracism.”

João Tilly claimed that this has been the case in health, infrastructure, and education. He argued that the citizens of the Viseu district pay “equal taxes” as those in Lisbon or Porto but receive “much lesser services.”

“The promised transformation of the IP3 into a highway remains in the drawer of mummified promises,” he exemplified.

The lead candidate remarked that “the only positive development in recent years” in the district “was the removal of tolls,” attributing this achievement to Chega.

The deputy also set a goal for these legislative elections to increase Chega’s elected representatives in Viseu from two to three.

“Remember, Viseu starts with V, Ventura starts with V, Victory starts with V, and this time Viseu will get three, three deputies in Viseu; we are working towards that,” he emphasized.

In his address, the deputy, who is once again leading the candidates’ list for the Viseu electoral district, also referenced the remarks of PSD leader and Prime Minister, who accused Chega officials of spreading misinformation following the televised debate with all party leaders.

“A few days later, it’s a Chega deputy, Rita… What’s her name? Rita Matias. And ‘don’t know who’ Frazão fanning the flames on social media. I don’t believe André Ventura didn’t tell them,” Montenegro stated on Friday.

The Chega candidate expressed surprise at seeing a young, still youthful current prime minister forgetting Rita Matias’ name.

“He said ‘Rita, Rita,’ looked back, didn’t know the rest of the name, and another one, even younger than him, some Frazão something, also didn’t know the name… But I’ll tell him now, her name is Rita Matias, she is our youth leader and perhaps will be a future Minister or Secretary of State for Youth,” he stated.

In his address, even before dinner was served, João Tilly also claimed that Chega’s success “is not due solely to Dr. André Ventura, though approximately 99% of it is.”
