
The proposal up for vote allows Pedro Pinto to remain as the parliamentary leader while introducing changes to the rest of the team.
Rita Matias, a deputy elected from Setúbal who was already part of the leadership, is set to become the first vice president. The 26-year-old deputy leads Juventude Chega and is an assistant to the National Directorate.
Jorge Galveias, a deputy who was elected from Évora in the previous legislature after leading the list from Aveiro in the two prior ones, will also continue as vice president.
Cristina Rodrigues, elected from the Porto district, along with parliamentarians Nuno Gabriel and Daniel Teixeira, both elected from the Setúbal list, are joining the Chega parliamentary group leadership.
Departing from the positions are deputies Rui Paulo Sousa, the former first vice president, and Marta Silva.
Earlier this month, Chega’s president, André Ventura, suggested that deputy Pedro Pinto should remain as the party’s parliamentary leader in the XVII Legislature and forecasted changes to the remainder of the parliamentary leadership.
Pedro Pinto, elected from the Faro district, has led the Chega bench since 2022, when the party first secured a parliamentary group with 12 deputies.
In the most recent election in April 2024, when Chega’s bench grew to 50 deputies, Pinto was re-elected, receiving only one blank vote out of a total of 47 votes cast.
