Chega insists on Pacheco de Amorim and Filipe Melo for the AR table

A source from the party’s National Directorate disclosed that Chega will make another attempt to elect these two deputies, who were just a few votes short in the initial election held on the first day of the legislature.

This attempt marks the first item on the plenary session agenda today, alongside the presentation and discussion of the Government’s program.

The voting process is secret, conducted via ballot box, and results are expected to be announced in the plenary session later.

The party’s president had previously mentioned the intention to submit new candidacies but had not confirmed if the same candidates would be proposed.

At that time, André Ventura accused PSD and PS of “betrayal” and attempting to “isolate the second party.”

On June 3, deputies Diogo Pacheco de Amorim and Filipe Melo narrowly missed the absolute majority needed for election.

Diogo Pacheco de Amorim received 115 votes in favor, 115 blank votes, and zero nulls, while Filipe Melo obtained 113 votes in favor, 117 blank, and zero nulls.

Gabriel Mithá Ribeiro was the only Chega candidate elected, who was reappointed as secretary of the Parliament’s Board. He secured 131 votes in favor, 99 blank, and zero nulls.

Diogo Pacheco de Amorim, Gabriel Mithá Ribeiro, and Filipe Melo had already held these positions in the previous legislature.
