Lisbon, May 29, 2025 — Chega party leader André Ventura stated today that the party will not support the motion to reject the next government’s program announced by the PCP, emphasizing that a new political crisis is “undesirable.”
“Chega will not support the motion to reject the government program. We will not allow irresponsible and unrealistic solutions to create a new political crisis when the Portuguese people want stability,” he said.
The Chega leader made these remarks to journalists after a meeting with the President of the Republic at the Belém Palace.
André Ventura assured Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa that “the entry into office of the government” would be facilitated, considering it “unthinkable and undesirable to create a political crisis.”
Ventura also stated that if his party wins in future legislative elections, he expects “the same democratic tolerance” that “whoever wins should govern.”
