Chega will vote against the labor package if there are no concessions from the Government.

Entering a meeting with the Bar Association in Lisbon, André Ventura expressed that Chega opposes several measures outlined in the labor law revision draft proposed by the Government, stating that without concessions from the executive, the party will not approve it.

“As it stands now, it’s wrong, [Chega] is against it. Because it is incorrect. It’s an attack on those who work, those who invest, those who strive. It’s as simple as that,” he stated when asked whether the party would vote against the bill if there were no changes.

When questioned about the conditions for Chega to negotiate with the Government on feasible changes to labor laws, André Ventura remarked that the executive should not pursue policies against women who wish to have children and must retract from permitting outsourcing following a dismissal.

“What the Government wants to do is create a feeling of instability for everyone. In that liberal logic, because if it’s a wild, everyone-against-everyone scenario, we’re all supposed to be better off. That’s wrong,” he argued.
