The Brazilian musician Chico César is back at the Festival Músicas do Mundo (FMM), where he performs today in Porto Covo, now with Lula da Silva and the Workers’ Party in power.
Themusician, who made his debut at FMM in 2019, said at the time, in an interview with Lusa, that he had already thought about “exiling” himself in Portugal, given the way artists were being “stigmatized” in Brazil, at the time under the leadership of President Jair Bolsonaro.
Optimistically, however, Chico César believed that Brazil would “resume its vocation for democracy, for inclusion” and that everything would be nothing more than a “collective delirium”.
The musician will be back on the FMM stage tonight at 22:45, with Lula da Silva as president, bringing a new album, “Vestido de Amor”, recorded in Paris and reflecting on the current world.
Tonight, the third night of the FMM and the last in Porto Covo (then the program goes to Sines, until the 29th), also features Mari Kalkun, from Estonia (21:30), player of kannel (Baltic-Finnish zither), accordion, piano, electronics and percussion instruments.
Closing at 24:00 will be the trio Brama, from Chamboulive, New Aquitaine, in the historic Occitanie region of France.
