Chico César takes the celebration of 30 years of ‘Aos Vivos’ to seven cities

Chico César is set to perform in Leiria at the Teatro José Lúcio da Silva on March 12, in Torres Novas at the Teatro Virgínia on March 13, in Ponta Delgada at the Teatro Micaelense on March 14, in Porto at the Casa da Música on March 16, in Lisbon at the Teatro Tivoli on March 18, in Guarda at the Teatro Municipal on March 20, and in Estarreja at the Cine-Teatro on March 21, as announced by the concert promoter in a statement released today.

In these concerts, the musician will revisit “the songs that revealed him to the world in an album that has never lost its strength and vitality.”

In 1995, Chico César released ‘Aos Vivos’, an album recorded “armed only with his voice and guitar.”

“A debut album released in a live format, without a safety net, in a raw and intimate setting. The album, which seemed like a ‘best of’ right upon release, was not just a debut: it was a manifesto,” the statement reads.

Recorded in São Paulo in 1994, ‘Aos Vivos’ consists of 15 tracks, including “‘Béradêro’, ‘Mama África’, ‘À Primeira Vista’ (later re-recorded by Daniela Mercury in her 1996 album ‘Feijão com Arroz’), ‘Paraíba’, ‘Mulher Eu Sei’, and ‘Templo’.

Thirty years later, Chico César returns to ‘Aos Vivos’ with a solo performance, featuring voice and guitar, “where each song is presented live in its primordial state, in a fragile yet powerful ambivalence, intimate in its collective sharing.”

Tickets for the concerts in Leiria, Porto, Lisbon, Guarda, and Estarreja are already on sale. For the shows in Torres Novas and Ponta Delgada, tickets will be available “soon.”
