China has ceased receiving deliveries due to tariff issues, confirmed Kelly Ortberg during an interview with CNBC.
The Trump administration anticipates reaching trade agreements next month with most of the countries subjected to tariffs, yet the trade war spurred by this tariff policy is primarily focused on a dispute with China.
Last week, Trump mentioned engaging in discussions with Chinese representatives to reach an agreement with Beijing, while President Xi holds firm on maintaining 125% tariffs on the United States.
China has asserted it does not desire a trade war but stated it is not afraid to face one if necessary.
Beijing urged Washington to retract all imposed tariffs and commence dialogue “based on mutual respect,” reiterating that protectionism leads to a dead end.
Furthermore, Beijing warned it will not accept international agreements reached “at the expense of its interests,” following international media reports that Trump intends to pressure other nations during trade negotiations to restrict their commerce with China.
