The bid for the renovation project announced in the Diário da República on Thursday involves the restoration of roofs and façades, as well as the stabilization of vaults within the historic monument. The project is expected to span approximately ten months (300 days).
Upon inquiry, a source from the Cultural Heritage press office clarified that the renovation will focus solely on the church area of the Mosteiro de Santa Clara-a-Nova.
The current work will not affect the section of the building slated for conversion into a five-star hotel, where the Coimbra Anozero contemporary art biennial has been held.
The need for the intervention arises due to “wear and tear of the materials,” the source explained.
The project includes “the restoration of the roofs, with structural reinforcement of the vaults and installation of safety lines,” the source added.
The call for proposals is open until the 23rd.
