Cia Barbixas Group returns to Portugal with a new improvisation show

The Brazilian comedy group Cia Barbixas is set to return to Portugal in September for a tour featuring their improvisational show ‘Improvável’, with Portuguese guests Mário Bomba and Telmo Ramalho.

The tour will cover three cities. The first performance is scheduled for Braga on September 4 at Fórum Braga. They will then head to Teatro Sá da Bandeira in Porto on September 6 and 7, followed by Aula Magna in Lisbon on September 10 and 11.

Their last tour in Portugal, in 2024, saw several sold-out shows, attracting over 5,500 attendees.

“The performances are just a pretext. After the Portuguese team’s title win, the Brazilian football team hired us to investigate the secret of good games. We believe it’s the wines,” joked comedian Anderson Bizzocchi, a group member, in a press release.

‘Improvável’, created by Cia Barbixas in 2007, is now regarded as “one of the most renowned theatrical improvisation productions in the world” nearly a decade later.

Each show begins with a master of ceremonies who “proposes games with themes suggested by the audience,” and the actors, with “no script,” create everything on the spot, making each session entirely different from the last.

The group, comprised of humorists Anderson Bizzocchi, Elidio Sanna, and Daniel Nascimento, has brought Cia Barbixas productions to various countries in Europe and Latin America, totaling over one million spectators.

Audience interaction and the uniqueness of every performance are core to the group’s shows.

Cia Barbixas is also a social media phenomenon. They have 905,000 followers on Instagram and over 3.2 million subscribers on YouTube, with more than 1.39 million views.

This digital presence translates into numerous sold-out venues.
