A new program titled “Outros Mundos,” described as a platform open to creative freedom and a fusion of genres, geographies, and forms of expression, is set to take place this summer as part of the 33rd edition of the Cistermúsica Festival in Alcobaça. The announcement was made in a statement by the festival organizers.
The lineup includes a closing concert dedicated to the music of Coldplay, featuring the Vocal Emotion project, which brings together 50 voices alongside a string quartet and a rock band.
In the bossa nova genre, the festival will host performances by Paula Morelenbaum, Ralf Schmid (piano), and Joo Kraus (trumpet). They will be joined by special guest António Zambujo in a show celebrating the works of Tom Jobim, João Donato, and Ivan Lins.
The baroque and electronic music scene will be represented by a performance from BallArte Ensemble.
“Outros Mundos” will also feature contemporary jazz from the João Rosa Quinteto, and the group Estardalhaço da Geringonça, celebrating the 25th anniversary of the album “Old Tradition New Ignition.” Other projects include Casa Bonita, a tribute to Marco Paulo by a trio led by guitarist Pedro Branco, and performances by guitarist Eugénia Contente’s trio.
Organized by ABA—Banda de Alcobaça Associação de Artes, the festival will run from June 27 to August 2. It is held in partnership with the municipality of Alcobaça, the Leiria District, and Museums and Monuments of Portugal through the Monastery.
