The majority of incidents recorded between midnight and 7 a.m. involved flooding, with a total of 43 occurrences, according to José Rodrigues of the ANEPC. No casualties or severe damage were reported as a result of the rainfall.
In addition to flooding, most incidents were related to fallen trees and the need for road clearance, the ANEPC stated.
The operations involved 244 personnel, supported by 96 vehicles.
The Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere has issued an orange warning for eight districts on the mainland—Viseu, Guarda, Santarém, Lisbon, Leiria, Castelo Branco, Aveiro, and Coimbra—due to persistent rain, occasionally heavy, accompanied by wind.
The forecast predicts rain, sometimes heavy and persistent, particularly in the central region, gradually decreasing in intensity and frequency from north to south, with more intense winds along the western coastal strip and highlands.
