CMTV wins the rights to ‘Rabo de Peixe’ and will produce a documentary series

In a statement, CMTV announced it has “acquired the rights to a set of content related to ‘Rabo de Peixe,’ authored by Rúben Pacheco Correia, including reenactments and interviews with those involved in the drug shipwreck, including the boat owner who was imprisoned in Brazil.”

These contents “were being contested by other operators, with CMTV managing to win the race against the generalist TVI,” it emphasizes.

“It is a source of pride for CMTV to be able to showcase this work. In recent days, some generalist channels tried to secure this product, but I am proud to announce that Ruben chose to work with us,” said Carlos Rodrigues, general editorial director of Medialivre and director of CMTV, as cited in the statement.

Notícias ao Minuto spoke with Rúben Pacheco Correia, who is releasing the book ‘Rabo de Peixe – Toda a Verdade’ on Thursday, May 8, about the drug trafficker responsible for the cocaine that washed ashore on the island of São Miguel in the Azores in 2001.

“He surely understands that CMTV is the station that provides more assurances in terms of quality and the impact of the product. Rabo de Peixe – A Verdadeira História will be a success, the result of this partnership between CMTV and Rúben,” concludes the official.

Meanwhile, CMTV, in collaboration with Rúben Pacheco Correia, “will produce a series of three to five original and exclusive documentaries, which should be broadcast later this year” on the Correio da Manhã group’s network.

“I accepted the CMTV proposal because, more than a financial proposal, they guaranteed me the possibility of being involved in the project until its broadcast. Telling the true story of the land where I was born is a guarantee I couldn’t forgo. And the CM universe will give the story the dimension it deserves,” states Rúben Pacheco Correia, as cited in the statement.

With this agreement, Media Livre also secured the rights to commercialize the series with streaming platforms.
