Coast under warning again due to sea unrest. Rain only on Monday.

Coastal districts in mainland Portugal are under a yellow warning today due to maritime disturbances, as announced by the Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).

The strong maritime agitation alerts apply to the districts of Viana do Castelo, Braga, Porto, Aveiro, Coimbra, Leiria, Lisbon, Setúbal, Beja, and Faro, effective until midnight.

Northwest waves ranging from 2 to 3 meters are expected, increasing to 4 to 4.5 meters from early afternoon, the IPMA also warns.

Throughout Saturday, the sky is expected to be generally slightly cloudy, with periods of significant cloudiness and possible light showers in the North and Central regions. Light to moderate winds are anticipated.

A slight decrease in minimum temperatures is also forecast for today, with the lowest expected in the inland areas: Bragança, Guarda, and Viseu may drop to 4ºC, while in the Algarve region, the minimum temperature is predicted to be 13ºC.

Maximum temperatures are expected to hover around 20ºC in Greater Lisbon, Santarém, Alentejo, and Algarve. In the North, temperatures may reach 17ºC in Porto, but will not exceed 15/16ºC in the Interior North.

On Sunday, another decline in minimum temperatures is expected, though the sky should remain slightly cloudy, with increasing cloudiness in the North and Central regions from the afternoon, where light rain might occur.

However, it is on Monday that rain will return to most of the territory. Next week is anticipated to be “very rainy,” as the Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere announced yesterday.

There will also be “favorable conditions for thunderstorms” due to the “positioning of a complex depression” centered “northwest of the Iberian Peninsula and moving slowly.”
