According to a press release, a special criminal prevention operation took place on Friday afternoon in the downtown area and involved “various units” of the Coimbra district PSP command.
“The Coimbra PSP identified 24 individuals and seized 124 doses of narcotic substances (cocaine, hashish, and marijuana), a bladed weapon, and a replica firearm,” the security institution reported.
During the operation, four of the inspected establishments “were subject to administrative offense reports for various infractions,” and in one of them, “counterfeit products (six pairs of sneakers) were seized.”
The PSP also reported that 25 vehicles were inspected during this operation, resulting in four administrative offense reports.
The press release continues, stating that “three information requests were made by the Foreigners and Border Control Unit to the Border and Foreigners Coordination Unit (UCFE) through INFOCEST.”
The PSP notes that this action of requesting information on foreigners was carried out as part of the new responsibilities assigned to the PSP in matters of border control.
Since the beginning of the year, “dozens of visibility actions and targeted policing operations have been carried out in downtown Coimbra, as well as criminal investigation operations,” resulting in, among others, “more than two dozen arrests for different types of crimes, such as robbery, theft, and drug trafficking.”
