
The commander of the Vila Pouca de Aguiar firefighters, Hugo Silva, reported that the accident resulted in one serious injury, a 64-year-old man, who had to be freed from the vehicle, and one minor injury, a 28-year-old.
Both victims, he added, were stabilized at the scene and transported to the Vila Real Hospital.
The head-on collision involved a passenger vehicle and a light goods vehicle and occurred on the National Highway (EN) 206, which was closed for rescue operations.
The commander stated that the causes of the accident are unknown and will be investigated by the authorities.
The alert was raised at 6:00 PM, and nine firefighters from Vila Real, with three vehicles, a Medical Emergency and Resuscitation Unit (VMER) team, and GNR military officers, responded to the scene.
