A collision involving four vehicles resulted in one fatality and one minor injury on Monday morning on the A25 highway near the Reigoso junction in the municipality of Oliveira de Frades, Viseu district, according to the District Command of Relief Operations (CDOS).
The deceased was the motorcyclist involved in the accident, which also included two heavy goods vehicles and one passenger car.
The individual with minor injuries is currently being treated on the scene.
The accident, which occurred at kilometer 50, has led to the closure of the road in the Viseu-Aveiro direction. There is currently no estimate for when the road will reopen.
The alert for the collision was issued at 8:16 a.m. On the scene are 30 personnel and 13 vehicles from the National Republican Guard (GNR), Vouzela Voluntary Firefighters, the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM), and Ascendi.
Meanwhile, the Facebook group Os Monhacas has shared images and videos of the accident, highlighting the heavy traffic currently present.
According to the group, traffic congestion nearly reaches the Vouzela service area in the Viseu-Aveiro direction. A possible alternative route might be National Road 333-3, Oliveira de Frades.
