“Conan was the perfect host – he guided us with skill throughout the evening with humor, warmth, and reverence,” stated the top leaders of the Academy, CEO Bill Kramer and President Janet Yang, in a statement released today.
In the same statement, Conan O’Brien remarked that his sole reason for returning to the Oscars next year is “to hear [actor] Adrien Brody finish his speech,” referencing Brody’s acceptance speech for Best Actor this year for the film “The Brutalista,” which became the longest speech in Oscar history, lasting five minutes and 40 seconds.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences noted that this year’s Oscars television broadcast attracted 19.69 million viewers, marking a five-year high and a 1% increase compared to 2024.
