The upcoming weeks in Portugal are expected to be dry, with temperatures projected to be “below normal”, according to an extensive forecast by the Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) released on Friday.
In its weather forecast covering the period from May 12 to June 8, the IPMA indicates that the “total weekly precipitation” will have “below-normal” values, similar to the “average weekly temperature,” which will also have “values below normal” across mainland Portugal.
For precipitation, during the first week from May 19 to June 25, “values below normal (-10 to -1 mm) are expected in certain locations across the territory, particularly in the region of Minho, Alto Alentejo, and the Central and Southern Western coast.”
However, in the subsequent weeks, “it is not possible to identify any statistically significant signal.”
Regarding the average weekly temperature, it is also anticipated to have “values below normal across the entire territory” for the week of May 12 to May 18.
In the following weeks, from May 19 to June 8, “values above normal are expected for almost the entire territory, with the exception of certain locations in the southern interior”.
