
Near the Artistic School Antonio Arroio in Lisbon, which was closed due to a strike, Sebastião Santana, coordinator of the Common Front, along with José Feliciano Costa, one of the secretary-generals of the National Federation of Teachers (Fenprof), highlighted that the waste collection sector saw 90% participation in the strike during the early hours.
This morning, dozens of students were socializing near the school and in outdoor seating areas after finding the school closed.
The Common Front is engaging today in a significant public administration strike against the government, accusing it of deteriorating working conditions and underfunding public services.
Participation is expected from teachers, educators and school assistants, doctors, nurses and healthcare assistants, public transport workers, inspectors and tax employees, judicial staff, among others.
The strike aims to address salary increases, career advancement, the restoration of public employment, and the defense of public services, covering all state workers.
The Common Front represents 29 unions across all public administration sectors.
