
Enterprises based in the southern region specialize in the distribution of tobacco, beverages, and food products.
“The Board of Directors of the Competition Authority, under the legal authority granted by item d) of paragraph 1 of article 19 of the Statutes, approved by Decree-Law No. 125/2014, of August 18, decides to adopt a decision of non-opposition to the concentration operation,” according to a statement on the Authority’s website.
The AdC received prior notification on July 31 regarding Grupo Bel’s acquisition of exclusive control over the companies Grudisul, Alcigarve, Tabacaria L. Lisboa, and Sobral&Renato.
Three of the four companies acquired by the group, led by entrepreneur Marco Galinha, are headquartered in the Faro district. Their business activities include the trade of coffee, food products, and beverages. Except for Sobral&Renato, all engage in tobacco distribution or commerce.
