A 42-year-old foreign national, wanted under a European arrest warrant issued by French judicial authorities, has been detained in the Lisbon area on suspicion of fraud offenses.
The crimes are believed to have occurred between 2016 and 2021 in the Lille region of France, according to a statement from the Polícia Judiciária (PJ). Authorities reported that the man “has been in the national territory for about four years, where he resides with his wife and two children, all with regularized status, and works as an administrative technician in a multinational company.”
The individual was brought before the Lisbon Court of Appeal, which ruled that he should remain in preventive custody pending the extradition proceedings.
