The Volunteer Firefighters of Lagos assisted a woman in childbirth at her home on Sunday morning. Both mother and baby, who were later transported to the hospital, are reported to be in good health.
“This morning, our emergency ambulance crew was dispatched at approximately 08:55 to a woman in labor,” noted a social media post by the fire department.
The post detailed that “the progression of labor necessitated the firefighters from Lagos and the Lagos SIV Ambulance to conduct the delivery at the woman’s residence.”
Subsequently, the mother and baby were transferred to the Algarve University Hospital Center (CHUA) with the Barlavento Medical Emergency and Resuscitation Vehicle (VMER) providing an evaluation of the mother and newborn.
“Both the newborn and the mother are in good health, having been assessed on-site and later at the CHUA in Portimão,” the statement confirmed.
The Lagos Volunteer Firefighters extended “the greatest happiness to the family” and praised the professionals for their “dedication.”
