The Constitutional Court approved unanimously on Thursday the new designation for the coalition between PSD and CDS, officially titled “AD – Coligação PSD/CDS”.
This approval finalizes the official name for the coalition led by Luís Montenegro in preparation for the legislative elections scheduled for May 18.
“There is no objection to the coalition between the Social Democratic Party (PPD/PSD) and the CDS – People’s Party (CDS-PP), formed with the purpose of running in all electoral districts on the mainland, in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, and in the European and non-European electoral districts for the Assembly of the Republic elections to be held on May 18, 2025, adopting the acronym ‘PPD/PSD.CDS-PP’, the designation ‘AD – Coligação PSD/CDS’, and the symbol included in the annex to this judgment, which is an integral part of it,” reads the Constitutional Court’s ruling.
The Constitutional Court had previously rejected the initial proposal “AD – Aliança Democrática – PSD/CDS” for the early elections, stating it could mislead voters since this time it does not include the PPM, unlike in the elections held a year ago.
