
The automotive sector experienced a surge in complaints, rising from 142 to 399, despite an overall decline in grievances.
Sectors such as home furniture, clothing, and home maintenance and improvement services saw little change in complaint numbers. The furniture sector saw a slight increase from 246 to 248 complaints, clothing saw a decrease from 255 to 248, and maintenance services experienced a drop from 132 to 111.
Conversely, the energy sector (electricity and gas) witnessed a significant drop in complaints, declining from 304 in 2023 to 190 in 2024. The transportation sector also saw a reduction, with complaints falling from 260 to 174.
The decline in complaints can be attributed to the supply and quality of goods and services, according to consumers.
Online store complaints have equaled those of physical stores, indicating a consolidation of digital shopping within the consumption habits of Portuguese consumers.
The Directorate-General for Consumers (DGC) notes that the majority of those seeking their services are residents of the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region, especially in the municipalities of Lisbon, Sintra, Cascais, Oeiras, Loures, and Amadora.
