Continent and Madeira under warnings Friday and Saturday due to maritime agitation

The districts of Porto, Viana do Castelo, Lisbon, Leiria, Aveiro, Coimbra, and Braga will be under a yellow warning from 06:00 to 18:00 on Friday, escalating to orange until 07:00 on Saturday, with northwest waves expected to reach 5 to 6 meters, potentially reaching a maximum height of 11 meters.

Due to sea conditions, the districts of Faro, Setúbal, and Beja will also be under a yellow warning from 09:00 on Friday until 07:00 on Saturday.

The northern coast of Madeira Island and Porto Santo will be under an orange warning from 14:00 on Friday to 07:00 on Saturday, with northwest waves anticipated to be 5 to 6.5 meters, potentially reaching 12.5 meters at their peak.

The northern coast of Madeira and Porto Santo will initially be under a yellow warning from 06:00 to 14:00 on Friday due to strong maritime agitation.

The IPMA also issued a yellow warning for the Madeira archipelago from 03:00 on Friday to 07:00 on Saturday due to expected strong winds with gusts of 80 kilometers per hour (km/h), reaching 100 km/h in mountainous regions.

The orange warning is issued by the IPMA whenever there is a “moderate to high-risk meteorological situation,” while the yellow indicates a “risk situation for certain dependent activities” due to weather conditions.
