The Central Criminal Court of Loures has sentenced four young individuals for co-authored qualified physical assault, with prison sentences of three years and three months to three years and six months. The announcement was made this Monday.
The decision was rendered on May 30, 2025, as stated by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Lisbon North District.
At the time of the incident, which occurred on the afternoon of February 16, 2022, the youths were aged between 17 and 22.
The crime took place in broad daylight near a bus stop in Loures, witnessed by several people, including minors who were heading home after school.
The court found that while one of the accused remained inside a vehicle, the other three, with their faces covered and armed with knives, approached the 21-year-old victim who was about to board a bus.
After punching the victim in the back, at least one of the three accused used a knife to stab the victim twice, resulting in a cut on the right side of the chest and causing the victim to fall to the ground.
The three assailants fled but one pursued the victim when they attempted to escape, stopping only upon spotting a Public Security Police (PSP) officer.
The victim was taken to Hospital de Santa Maria and is out of danger.

“The motivation for this group attack, preceded by planning, is unknown. The victim speculated it may have been due to sharing, within a circle of friends, a song jokingly mentioning the nickname of one of the four accused, which was later uploaded to YouTube without consent,” the statement added.
The investigation leading to the conviction was conducted by the Public Prosecutor’s Office – DIAP of Loures, with the assistance of the PSP.
