Costa has a gift for Zelensky (and it's very Portuguese)

The Prime Minister shared on social media the gift he gave Zelensky this Thursday at the European Council meeting.

Portuguese Prime Minister António Costa revealed on Twitter that he offered a gift to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the European Council in Brussels.

This is a photograph of a work by Portuguese artist Vhils in Kiev. The work is a tribute to Serhiy Nigoyan, the first activist killed in the pro-European Maidan Square protests in January 2014.

Zelensky was in Brussels on Thursday as part of a European tour that included stops in London and Paris on Wednesday, a speech at an extraordinary session of the European Parliament and a meeting of the European Council.

At the European Council, the President of Ukraine insisted on the need for EU member states to cooperate with the country at a higher speed than Russia and called for sanctions against Russian nuclear power.

Zelensky also said that the country’s membership in the European Union “is the way home” and that Ukraine shares the “European way of life” with the remaining 27 member states.
