“The first and main message I want to convey here today is to say clearly: I will go to the second round. It is against many who do not believe, but I believe, you believe, and that is essential to start this journey that only ends at the Palácio de Belém,” Cotrim expressed.
The MEP and former leader of the Liberal Initiative was speaking at the official presentation of his candidacy for the presidential elections on January 18, held at the Centro Cultural de Belém in Lisbon.
Addressing his opponents directly in the race “to make them understand well,” Cotrim asserted he is not “bound by party logics,” nor to “more or less established interests,” “to devices, electoral calculations, or to discreet or secret organizations.”
“Do you want more independence than this?” he questioned.
