A couple aged 41 and 54 was arrested by the Public Security Police (PSP) in Marrazes, Leiria, for physical assault and insulting police officers.
The PSP reported that on August 18, at 10:30 PM, officers were dispatched to a restaurant due to disruptions caused by a couple who damaged the place after consuming alcohol and refusing to pay.
Upon arrival, the couple insulted the PSP officers and, despite multiple warnings, continued their aggressive behavior.
The report states, “Unexpectedly, the 41-year-old woman approached one of the officers and slapped him.”
In response to the assault, the officer attempted to handcuff the woman to detain her. However, the other individual threw a “chair from the establishment’s terrace at the officer.”
“After their detention and completion of legal formalities, the couple was taken to PSP Leiria’s detention quarters to appear for an initial judicial hearing,” the statement revealed.
The two individuals have been subjected to an initial hearing, and they received the coercive measures of “periodic reporting to the police station in their residential area and prohibition from approaching the restaurant.”
