A popular “witnessed the situation and threw two buoys to provide buoyancy”.
An American couple was rescue dearly this afternoon after being “surprised” by a wave and “dragged” into the sea, in the Seixal natural pools area, on the island of Madeira.
In a statement, SANAS – Associação Madeirense para Socorro no Mar said that the “vessel assigned to the Porto Moniz Life Saving Station” was activated to “rescue two individuals who were in the Seixal natural pools area”.
According to the note, a 34-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman, both of American nationality, were “surprised by a wave and swept out to sea”.
After the incident, a “local man who witnessed the situation threw two buoys to provide buoyancy”.
Both were picked up, “visibly shaken”, by the “lifeboat and transported to the Seixal pier where two ambulances were waiting to transport them to a health unit”.
