A group of six individuals was arrested early Thursday morning after allegedly robbing two 19-year-olds at knifepoint outside a nightclub in the Misericórdia district of Lisbon.
The detentions included five young men and one woman, aged between 19 and 25, at around 2 a.m., as detailed by the Public Security Police (PSP) in a statement issued on Saturday.
The report highlighted that a patrol aimed at preventing criminal occurrences between Cais do Sodré and Bairro Alto “noticed two visibly distressed men and approached them.”
The teenagers informed the authorities that they had been robbed with a knife shortly after leaving a nightclub. They provided a full description of the six suspects and reported that two mobile phones, valued at 1,500 euros, along with other personal items worth 500 euros, had been stolen.
“Information was swiftly disseminated to all police personnel on duty, resulting in the interception of a group matching the suspects’ description within about five minutes,” PSP stated.
The suspects were searched and found in possession of not only the weapon used in the crime but also the stolen items.
One suspect was placed in preventive detention, while the others were required to report periodically to the police station near their residences.
